Each artist spending three months in residence to be inspired by the unique environment Glenfiddich offers. The highlands of Scotland are still home to some very ancient traditions some of which pre date Christianity having their roots in our pagan Celtic past.  Many of these old practices and customs were often concerned with the well being or fortunes of the practitioners. On a recent trip north with Lisa and Kun Ying we were able to stop in to visit the famous Clootie well at Munlochty on the Black Isle.

June is the time of year that all our global brand ambassadors take time out of their busy schedules to congregate in Dufftown for their annual conference. This is a great opportunity for the ambassadors to rub shoulders, share their knowledge and pick up more information about Glenfiddich from craftsmen such as Dennis Mc Bain to use once they are back in their respective markets

Another day , another trip down to Aberdeen airport. This time our latest arrival is Min Joon Park from  Korea. So far this year each artist has been welcomed to Scotland with some very pleasant weather however Joon arrived to overcast skies and falling drizzle. This was not too much of a disappointment for Joon though as his home is Jeju, an island to the south of Korea. In fact the soggy Scottish summer was very familiar to him in his homeland. However home for the next few months will be a farm house by The Glenfiddich Distillery and Joon wasted no time in settling in and setting his studio up ready for work.

It might be the change in climate or perhaps from not wearing socks but poor Kun Ying has picked up a slight summer sniffle.  No need for doctors or medicines from the chemists. For as every Scot knows the best cure is good stiff hot Toddy, made of course from Glenfiddich single malt !

With our first three residents settled in to their on-site accommodation and beginning to find their way around locally it’s time to start broadening horizons and exploring further afield beyond the Glenfiddich Distillery and Dufftown.  Living  in the heart of Speyside we are blessed not only with the scenic surroundings of mountains and of course the river Spey itself but we are only a short drive the sandy beaches of the Moray firth giving way to dramatic cliffs to the east along the Buchan coastline.
