As the UK Brand Ambassador for Glenfiddich, I do a lot of travelling and, irrespective of the season, when I am in London you can guarantee the city’s busy Underground system will always be just a few degrees below that of a Caribbean summer.
The only salvation for me after a long stuffy journey home from work is to know there is something cold and refreshing waiting in the freezer at home.
Having recently unveiled our newly designed Glenfiddich 18 Year Old packaging in October and with Christmas just around the corner, now seems like the perfect time to talk to you about this exceptional single malt in a bit more detail, looking at its complex maturation process, new design and award-winning taste.
When I first started drinking single malts, I thought the people writing the tasting notes had a skill for nosing and tasting that I could never have. But with practice, I’ve learned how to identify and describe the complex aromas and flavours in my drams.

Glenfiddich has been a family business since William Grant laid the very first stones on the site of our distillery with the help of his seven sons and two daughters back in 1886. To this day, William’s descendants continue to own and manage our distillery, looking after our whisky and leading the way for future generations to come.
Following in William’s footsteps is fifth generation Grant family member Kirsten Grant Meikle, who took some time to talk to us about what family means to her and, of course, the difference it makes to the way we produce our award winning single malt.
We spent hours painstakingly deconstructing one of our casks to create a work of art specially commissioned to celebrate the newly designed packaging for our award winning 18 Year Old single malt.
To help us with the task, we enlisted the expertise of Glenfiddich cooper, Sean Caird. He took a moment at the shoot to talk to us about the cask used on the set, as well as his role at our distillery and the importance of having an on-site cooperage.
