We are continuing to disrupt the status quo of the whisky world with Orchard Experiment, the fifth expression in The Experimental Series. A celebration of unexpected pairings, this liquid is a remarkable and genuine first: Single malt finished in Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks.
Combining the depth and intensity of Glenfiddich with the delicate sweetness of Somerset apples, the resulting finish delivers a rich harvest of crisp orchard fruit flavours.
Since its inception in 2017, our Glenfiddich Experimental Series has continuously pushed the boundaries of single malt Scotch whisky making. Now, to launch the latest in the series – Orchard Experiment – we are pushing the boundaries of whisky tasting, in partnership with synaesthetic artist Jake-Andrew Nason.
Jake-Andrew Nason is a gestural abstract expressionist artist who experiences synaesthesia, a condition which, for him, means that when two or more of his senses are triggered, he immediately experiences these as visuals or colours.
Using this remarkable ability in his work, Jake-Andrew’s practice is centred around the way the mind can perceive sensory stimulus as colour, texture, shape and movement, making him perfectly placed to take on the challenge of translating the vibrant taste of Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment into art.
In his approach to this challenge, Jake-Andrew has married traditional painting techniques with contemporary concepts and movements, evoking the complex flavour notes and layers found within Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment whisky and cocktails.
Can you taste in colour? Now you can experience the vibrant flavours of new Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment transformed into a multi-sensorial art and cocktail experience.
Specially created by Jake-Andrew Nason, the unique audio visual piece of art below is designed to complement the liquid and invites you to interrogate your own individual perception of taste at home.
So, please, sit back with a Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment cocktail in hand, and allow yourself to experience taste, in full colour.
Glenfiddich Orchard Experiment is delicious when enjoyed on its own, or provides the foundations for a flavoursome cocktail. Why not create The Apple Orchard or The Temperley cocktails and immerse yourself in The Taste in Colour Experiment artwork.
