The old fashioned
Created by bartender Martin Cuneo in honour of Colonel James E. Pepper at the Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky in 1881, it’s now evolved into two versions – the new and the old. The Pendennis Club obviously opts for the latter and it’s a totally different drink compared to the modern version my palate was used to.

- 50ml Glenfiddich 15 Year Old
- 1 brown sugar cube
- 4 dashes of aromatic bitters
- 4 - 6 ice cubes
- Orange peel
Instructions
-
1Take a sugar cube and crush it in the glass
-
2Add the Glenfiddich and aromatic bitters into a mixing glass over ice and stir well
-
3Strain over large cube of ice into an old fashioned glass
-
4Zest the oils of two large pieces of orange peel into the glass
-
5Add a slice of the orange peel to the glass as a garnish.
