Zhang’s artistic practice embeds itself in the logic of life, centered on the relationship between ego consciousness, physical space and mundane experience. By withdrawing certain slices of time and information of materials, Zhang is able to capture, conceal, retain or fabricate instant emotions and interactions carried out by the frictions between individuals and the reality where they refer to each other while being mutually restrictive.
